Milcah Chemos Cheywa (born February 24, 1986 in Mount Elgon District in Western Province ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in obstacle running.

At the beginning of her career she started in the middle-distance run . However, after there was no success here, she switched to the obstacle course in March 2009. Just a few months later, this decision paid off for her. At the World Athletics Championships in Berlin , she won the bronze medal behind the Spanish Marta Domínguez and the Russian Julija Sarudnewa in a personal best of 9: 08.57 minutes . Because Domínquez was later disqualified, she was awarded the silver medal.

At the 2010 African Athletics Championships in Nairobi, Cheywa won the obstacle course. She also won the overall ranking of the IAAF Diamond League in this discipline . She won four of seven individual races in the series and finished second in the other three. In addition, she won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi . At the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu, she repeated her success from Berlin with a bronze medal. As at the World Championships in Berlin, the winner was later disqualified and awarded the silver medal. In London, she won the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games , even though she was considered the top favorite for the title by the experts. A year later she became world champion in Moscow .
