Jelena Vladimirovna Safarova ( Russian Елена Владимировна Сафарова , scientific transliteration Elena Vladimirovna Safarova ; born March 23, 1975 in Kalinin (today Tver ), Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian biathlete who practiced the sport at the highest level would have.

Jelena Safarowa started biathlon in 1986. Today's trainer from Ischimbai attended the children's and youth sports school there and started as an active for Dynamo Ischimbai .

The Russian had her first major international engagement at the 1998 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Osrblie . She was used together with Olga Palikowa , Jelena Dumnowa and Nadeschda Talanowa in the relay race and won the bronze medal behind the relays from Belarus and Slovakia. In 2001 she won the Universiade in Zakopane . The next races at the highest level did not follow until 2002 as part of the Biathlon World Cup 2001/02 . Her first race was an individual in Antholz , which she finished in 41st. In the following sprint, Safarowa won her first and only biathlon world cup points in 29th place . So Safarowa was penultimate in the season. It should also be her last World Cup race. In the summer she entered again at the Summer Biathlon World Championships in 2002 in Khanty-Mansiysk and was ninth in the pursuit and 17th in the mass start race. Sometimes Safarowa started out as an archery biathlete . At the 1999 World Championships in Bessans she won the silver medal with Tatiana Ravinskaya and Marija Filippowa behind the relay from Italy.

Safarova studied ecology at the Tyumen Academy and has been a holder of the Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland 2nd class since 2003 .
