Jenna Elfman (* the 30th September 1971 in Los Angeles , California as Jennifer Mary Butala ) is an American actress .

Career

Despite completing classical ballet training, Jenna Elfman had to give up her plan for a ballet career due to an injury. She then shot commercials and worked as a background dancer at ZZ Top . In 1990 she also appeared as a dancer in the Depeche Mode video Halo (shot by Anton Corbijn ), which was published on the video collection Strange too . She later starred in various television series and took lessons from the drama teacher Milton Katselas.

Her breakthrough came with the role of Dharma in the television series Dharma & Greg . She was twice nominated for Emmy for this role . In 1999 she received the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Series - Comedy or Musical . The US broadcaster CBS took the comedy series Dating Alex in 2006 , whose producer Elfman was together with Faye Oshima Belyeu. From 2009 to 2010 she also starred in the CBS sitcom Accidentally Happy as the lead actress, but the series was discontinued after the end of the first season.

Private life

Since 1995 Elfman is married to the actor Bodhi Elfman , the nephew of the film composer Danny Elfman . Their son was born on July 23, 2007 in Los Angeles. Their second son was born on March 2, 2010.

Jenna Elfman is a Scientology member.
