Jens Bonnke

Jens Bonnke (* 1963 in Paris ) is a German illustrator .

Life

Jens Bonnke studied visual communication at the Trier University of Applied Sciences and at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1985 to 1991 with Jürgen Spohn and Jan Lenica . He has been working as a freelance illustrator since 1992.

Jens Bonnke publishes his work in magazines such as Rolling Stone , Playboy , the New York Times , Die Zeit and the Spiegel . For SZ-Magazin he illustrates the column “The question of conscience”. He illustrated an ABC primer for Le Monde diplomatique . He works for publishers such as Cornelsen , Piper , Haffmans and Wagenbach . For WDR he worked on the show with the mouse and on the cartoons Three Chinese with the Double Bass (2002) and Nothing or The Magician Gustav Krötenspeck (2003). Jens Bonnke is also a guest lecturer at the design academy berlin .

His first book Schräger Vogel, Krummer Hund was selected by the German Academy for Children's and Young Adult Literature as the picture book of the month of August 2008 and awarded the Academy's seal of approval. In 2009 the book was published in a French translation.

Jens Bonnke lives and works in Berlin .
