The design academy berlin, SRH University for Communication and Design is a private and state-recognized university in Berlin . There are courses in the fields of communication and design.
Since the summer semester 2015, the location has been in the construction house on Moritzplatz in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg . The school provider is the SRH University for Communication and Design GmbH. The university management is held by Dörte Schultze-Seehof, Rector.
history
The educational institution has been officially recognized as a university by the Berlin Science Senate since 2007 and was successfully reaccredited for another 5 years in 2018. The German and English-language Bachelor's and Master's degree courses comply with the Bologna guidelines that apply across Europe . All courses are accredited and thus demonstrate a high level of teaching quality.
The practice-oriented university degree in the bachelor’s degree programs ends after six or seven semesters with the internationally recognized academic degree Bachelor of Arts. The Master of Arts degree is awarded after two years in the two German-language four-semester courses and in an English-language Master’s course. In terms of content, the courses are focused on the topics of communication , design , marketing , advertising , design and ludology . The university trains specialists and young professionals in the creative and design industries.
The university team won first place in the P2P Facebook Global Digital Challenge in autumn 2017.
The previous institutions - the design academy berlin and the communication management GmbH - were founded in 1995 as vocational schools. Since the beginning of 2014, the design academy berlin has been one of nine SRH universities with a total of around 12,000 students.
Degree programs and equipment
The academy offers six bachelor's and three master's programs in German and English. These are state-recognized modularized university courses.

- BA illustration
- BA Film + Motion Design
- BA Web Development (dual or full-time)
- BA Game Studies
Master programs:
- MA Marketing Communication
- MA Strategic Design
The university has extensive media technology. On the weekends, students can also borrow Macs and photo equipment, animation, green screen and photo studios, print and scan devices, a darkroom and an editing room.
Location
In the middle of the Berlin district of Kreuzberg , the academy has moved into its rooms on the first two floors of the Aufbau Haus in Prinzenstrasse. The seminar rooms as well as well-equipped film and photo studios can also be booked as event and conference rooms.
Until the end of the 2015 summer semester, the university's lectures also took place in its locations in the Paul-Lincke-Höfe - a former telegraph factory - and in Liegnitzer Strasse. The former telegraph factory was rebuilt, extended and given a new use with over 100 loft units grouped around gardens.
