Jens Meier

Jens Meier (* 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German manager and sports official . He has been Chairman of the Management Board of the Hamburg Port Authority since April 1, 2008 .

Life

Meier grew up in the Hamburg district of Neugraben-Fischbek . After high school and military service , he completed a degree in computer science with a supplementary subject in economics at the University of Hamburg .

Meier began his professional career in 1993 at Software Design & Management AG , a subsidiary of the Ernst & Young Group, where he was responsible for the Hamburg and Hanover branches from 1997 as a member of the management team. In 2000 he became head of the Systematics AG division and was responsible for management consulting and software development. In July 2002 he took over the management of tts Holding GmbH & Co. KG . When this was sold to the Fiege Group in 2006 , he was appointed to the board of the FIEGE Logistik Holding Stiftung & Co. KG. Since April 1, 2008, Meier has been Chairman of the Management Board of the Hamburg Port Authority , an institution under public law .

In January 2013 Meier was elected to the board of directors of Hamburger SV , which he chaired from January to July 2014. At the general meeting on January 25, 2015, Meier was appointed with 84.5 percent as the successor to Carl-Edgar Jarchow as the new president of the sports club HSV e. V. elected. According to the articles of association, he also took a seat on the supervisory board of HSV Fußball AG, which was founded a few months earlier . He is the founding board member of the Hamburger Informatik Forum e. V .

Meier is married and has three children.
