Carl-Edgar Jarchow (born March 29, 1955 in Hamburg ) is a German football functionary and politician (initially instead of party and later FDP Hamburg ). From March 2011 to January 2015 he was President of Hamburger SV .

origin

Jarchow comes from a traditional Hamburg merchant family. His grandfather ran the coffee import company Jarchow & Co. His father Edgar Jarchow senior acquired the Hans Prang liquor factory in 1948 and in 1951 took over the sole production of Campari in Germany. Later he owned an additional 212 restaurants in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein; He was also a limited partner of the restaurant on the Telemichel and in the mid-1970s a major sponsor of HSV.

education and profession

Jarchow has been a member of Hamburger SV since 1990, where he was deputy head of the Supporting Members department from 1998 to 2001 and a member of the supervisory board from 2001 to 2004. On March 16, 2011, Jarchow was appointed by the Hamburger SV supervisory board as the successor to Bernd Hoffmann as acting chairman of the HSV. In July 2011, Hamburger SV extended his contract to March 15, 2013. In May 2012, his contract was extended to May 15, 2015 ahead of schedule. On January 25, 2015, Jarchow, who no longer stood for election, was replaced by Jens Meier as president. Until his contract expired on May 15, 2015, he was on the board of HSV Fußball AG , to which the licensed players department was spun off on July 7, 2014.

On June 4, 2015, Jarchow was elected Vice President of the Hamburg Football Association and on June 20, 2015, he was elected to the Presidium of the North German Football Association .

He is also an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of the SAGA GWD Neighborhood Foundation and an honorary member of the Board of Trustees of the Alexander Otto Sports Foundation.

Jarchow is married and has four children.
