Jens Morgenstern (* 1965 ) is a German luge trainer and sport functional .

Life

Morgenstern comes from Zwickau . He discovered his passion for the sport of luge at an early age and at the age of 9 he started luge himself; As a 13-year-old he was involved in the construction of the Zwickau luge track at the Westsachsenstadion . He attended the children's and youth sports school in Oberwiesenthal and then completed vocational training with a high school diploma as a machining specialist , before studying sports science at the German University for Physical Culture in Leipzig . From 1991 to 1994 he worked as the Saxon state coach and from 1994 to 2006 as the North Rhine-Westphalian state coach tobogganing. He then worked as branch manager of the KreisSportBund Hochsauerlandkreis and until 2019 as honorary president of BSC Winterberg for a total of six years . In this function he participated in the implementation of sporting events in the Winterberger Veltins-Eisarena and was a multiple jury member of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation . In addition, he was a board member from 2014 to 2019 and chairman of the city marketing association Winterberg from 2015 to 2017.

At the beginning of March 2019, the shareholders of Wintersport Altenberg (Osterzgebirge) GmbH (the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains District Office , the city of Altenberg (Ore Mountains) and the Luge, Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association for Saxony) appointed Jens Morgenstern as Matthias' successor on June 1, 2019 Benesch as managing director of the operating company, which u. a. to the care of the luge and bobsleigh Altenberg care. He took up the post as planned.
