Jens Wollenschläger

Jens Wollenschläger (* 1976 in Bad Bergzabern ) is a German organist , Protestant church musician and university professor .

life and work

Jens Wollenschläger grew up in Landau in the Palatinate and studied church music (A-exam) at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart with Bernhard Haas , Hans Martin Corrinth , Rebecca Maurer and Oleg Maisenberg as well as in the soloist class in the organ (concert exam with Award) with Pieter van Dijk at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater .

He held a teaching position in the subjects of organ and organ improvisation at the church music seminars of the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate in Speyer and Neustadt an der Weinstrasse . He worked as a cantor and organist at the Ulm Minster (internship) as well as a partial assignment as a district cantor in Aalen . Jens Wollenschläger was cantor in Stuttgart-Möhringen , organist at the Martinskirche there and head of the Möhringer Martinskantorei, as well as organ expert of the Württemberg regional church .

Wollenschläger is a harpsichordist with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra , the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim and the Baroque Orchestra of the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival . On behalf of the Association of Evangelical Church Music in Württemberg, he also leads courses in organ literature playing and improvisation. About 80 recorded CDs, various prizes, his composing and international concert activities (concert tours to Japan, Norway, Lithuania, among others) are further facets of his work. The largest German organ magazine, Organ , named him “Performer of the Year” in 2010 in recognition of his CD recording Alt-Hamburgischer Organistenspiegel .

In June 2014 Jens Wollenschläger became first organist at the Tübingen collegiate church and professor for artistic and liturgical organ playing at the Evangelical University for Church Music in Tübingen . He has also been the university's prorector since March 2015.
