Jeremy Dirk Dunbar (born March 25, 1988 in Pensacola , Florida ) is a German-American basketball player .

career

Dunbar played at Walton High School in Florida and moved to Okaloosa-Walton College for the 2006/07 season. After one season he enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University and played there for two years. At the end of his university career, Dunbar wore the Arkansas Tech University jersey between 2009 and 2011 .

He started a professional career, his first position in 2011/12 was the Crailsheim Merlins from the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . He quickly gained a reputation as a reliable distance shooter in Germany and then played with the Cuxhaven BasCats , the BG Göttingen and the s.Oliver Baskets Würzburg for other second division clubs. With Göttingen (as champions) and Würzburg (as runners-up), he was promoted to the basketball league .

For the 2015/16 season, Dunbar moved to SC Rasta Vechta and also rose to the Bundesliga with the Lower Saxony runners-up. In July 2016 he was signed by the first division club Phoenix Hagen . In the course of the 2016/17 season, Phoenix withdrew from the Bundesliga due to an application for bankruptcy, while Dunbar moved to the Dresden Titans in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA at the end of December 2016 .

With Dresden, Dunbar was relegated from the ProA, for the 2017/18 season he returned to Rasta Vechta - the Lower Saxony had previously relegated from the Bundesliga to the ProA. Dunbar helped that the Lower Saxony made the direct return to the House of Lords: With Rasta he became champion of the 2nd Bundesliga ProA in May 2018, in 38 appearances he scored an average of 6.4 points per match on the way to this success. This ended his time in Vechta.

At the end of October 2018 he returned to Phoenix Hagen, which, unlike his first contract there, was now in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA. In April 2019, Hagen announced that it would terminate the contract with Dunbar and part with him. He then moved to second division competitor PS Karlsruhe .

His mother Ulrike is German and comes from near Hanau . Jeremy's father, Dirk, is an American who played and trained basketball in Germany after completing his college career.
