The Jeruslan ( Russian Еруслан ) is a river in southeastern European Russia and a left tributary of the Volga .

description

The river has its source in the southwestern part of the Obschtschi-Syrt mountain range in the Saratov Oblast and flows in a south and southwest direction through the southern Saratov Oblast and the northeast Volgograd Oblast . The 278 km long river flows into the Volgograd reservoir around 50 km northwest of Pallasovka .

In winter the Jeruslan is frozen from late November / early December to early April, in summer the river dries up at times. It is therefore unsuitable for shipping, but the sometimes slightly salty water is used for irrigation.
