Jesper Matsson Krus
Jesper Matsson Krus , even Jesper Mattson and Jesper Mattsson cRUus af Edeby (* 1576 / 1577 ; † 1 November . Jul / 11. November 1622 greg. In Lemsjöholm ) was a Swedish Imperial Council , Field Marshal and Reich treasurer .
Life
Origin and family
Jesper Göran was a member of the Swedish noble family Cruus af Edeby . His parents were Matts Larsson Kruus († 1606) and Anna Björnsdotter Lepasätten († after 1612). In 1614 he married Brita De la Gardie (1581–1645), daughter of Pontus De la Gardie (1520–1585) and Sofia Gyllenhielm (1556–1583), thus the maternal granddaughter of King John III. In 1631 she became the third wife of Gabriel Gustafsson Oxenstierna (1587-1640). His sons were the barons Lars Jespersson Cruus af Harfvila (1617–1644) and Johan Jespersson Cruus af Gundhem (1621–1656).
Career
When the Polish-Swedish War broke out, Krus carried a banner of Finnish horsemen as Rittmeister . In 1605 he was appointed governor in Pernau and Lagman in Finland . In 1607 he besieged Wolmar with great difficulty . In 1608 he was promoted to commander in chief of the Swedish army in Finland, Estonia and Livonia , and was finally appointed to the Imperial Council in 1609. In 1610 he was colonel for all troops in Västergötland and in 1611 he was commander-in-chief against the Danes in the Kalmark War . He was promoted to General Field Colonel in 1612 and was appointed Imperial Treasurer as well as Field Marshal and General of the Army in 1615. King Gustav II. Adolf suggested Krus occasion of his coronation as knights . Most recently, he became governor of Riga in 1621 .
Krus was on his Good slain Lemsjöholm and first in the cathedral of Åbo buried, but then in 1624 by Stockholm transferred and in the Great Church finally laid to rest.
He was the heir to Harviala, Jockis and Lemsjöholm in Finland, as well as to Euseküll and Karkus in Estonia, and finally Rujen and Idwen in Livonia.
