action

Rose, the well-dressed beautician, wants to move to Mexico to end her longstanding relationship with the macho Sergio. Felix, the gourmet chef who made money from frozen food in the USA, wants to meet his divorced wife at a funeral in Munich. Their paths cross at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris because the air traffic controllers are on strike and all flights have therefore been postponed indefinitely. Although the introverted Felix feels annoyed by the extroverted Rose, he invites her to share a hotel room with him. There the two squabble constantly, only in the early hours of the morning do they realize that they care about each other and are happy to be able to spend as much time as possible together. The following morning they go their separate ways at the airport. However, Felix skipped the funeral and meeting with his ex-wife and drove straight home from Paris airport to the French provinces, where his father ran a restaurant. Rose takes the plane to Mexico, but lets the taxi return to the airport when she arrives at her new job. Felix told her on the mailbox that he had fallen in love with her and that he would wait for her at the Paris airport until she came back. With this news and the fact that they both fell in love after that chaotic night, Rose is forced not to start her new job. It is very likely that Rose will fly back to France; The film leaves this open.

Reviews

"Entertaining screwball comedy that takes place in one place within a few hours and draws on the charm of the two brilliant main actors, with really convincing lively dialogues and ideas appearing rather sporadically."

Awards

  • 2003: Nomination for a César in the category “Best Actress”: Juliette Binoche
