Jettenhausen is a district of Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance , which belongs to the core city.

history

Roman manors already existed in the current settlement area in the 1st to 3rd centuries.

middle Ages

Around 1000 Archbishop Gebhard von Ravenna received income from Jettenhausen, which he passed on to the women's monastery in Lindau .

Jettenhausen was mentioned in the 12th century as "Jetinhusin".

Around the middle of the 13th century, the Teutonic Order also sought to acquire possessions and legal titles in the Lake Constance area and in Upper Swabia, which should enable the establishment of a commander in the long term. In Jettenhausen he received the patronage in 1250. In 1255 the place came to the Kreuzlingen monastery and belonged to the Hirschlatt reign. In 1353 there were 16 houses in Jettenhausen.

In 1364 knight Ulrich Muris sold the keep and goods to citizens of Constance ( Jettenhausen Castle ). The town's church and parish, already mentioned in 1246, was donated to the Mainau Order of the Teutonic Order in 1250 .

Modern times

By the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss Jettenhausen was assigned to the House of Hohenzollern-Hechingen in 1803 as compensation for the loss of its possessions in the Netherlands.

In 1813 the place came to Württemberg as part of the Kreuzlingische Herrschaft Hirschlatt monastery and initially belonged to the municipality of Hagendorn / Berg, from 1850 to the municipality of Schnetzenhausen. On April 1, 1914, parts of Jettenhausen came to Friedrichshafen and on April 1, 1937, Jettenhausen was finally incorporated into the city of Friedrichshafen together with the entire municipality of Schnetzenhausen.

20th century

Early in the morning on June 21, 1943, the first air raid by British airmen took place on the Lake Constance area. The aim of these attacks was airship construction - many incendiary bombs hit the Jettenhausen area. The last air raid alarm in Friedrichshafen was on February 25, 1945 - about 60% of the city was destroyed after these attacks. On April 29, 1945, French troops reached Friedrichshafen.

The Stuttgart architect Helmut Erdle created the urban planning concept and took over the artistic direction for the construction of the "Gartenvorstadt" ( satellite settlement ) in Jettenhausen from 1957 to 1970 - for the construction of residential buildings and community facilities.

education

The old schoolhouse in Jettenhausen was built in 1861 and demolished in 1972.

The Ludwig Dürr School on Waggershauser Strasse was opened on September 30, 1954.

Old parish church of St. Mary's Birth

The church of Jettenhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1250. The church was donated to the German Order by Heinrich von Löwenthal in 1260 . Today's church essentially corresponds to a late Gothic building erected around 1468/69. The air raid on April 28, 1944 caused great damage to the church, which could only be repaired temporarily, as the necessary material could not be obtained for the time being. In 1953 the interior was restored and the church has served as a cemetery church since 1960.

From 1979 to 1986 the masonry and the roof of the church were restored - and the camouflage that was still in existence from the war was covered.

New parish church of St. Mary
