Yevgeny Vladimirovich Schalunow ( Russian Евгений Владимирович Шалунов ; born January 8, 1992 in Saint Petersburg ) is a Russian cyclist .
Career
Yevgeny Shalunov won the International Junior Peace Tour in 2010 plus two stage victories and was European Junior Champion on the track in the team pursuit. There was also silver in the individual pursuit. In 2011 he drove a few races for RadioShack on the road as a stagiaire .
In 2012 he went to Lokosphinx . In the same year he won the Spanish one-day race Vuelta a La Rioja . In the next two years he won the Trofeo Matteotti and the Vuelta a Madrid . Then Schalunow got a contract with RusVelo . At the last stage of the Tour de Wallonie 2016 , he achieved the third stage position and fifth place in the overall standings.
He made his first three-week tour with the Giro d'Italia 2017 . He finished this in 123rd place. On the 19th stage he was sixth in the stage in Piancavallo . In Rund um Köln 2017 , Schalunow finished fifth.
