Ji'an ( Chinese  集安市 , Pinyin Jí'ān Shì ) is a Chinese city in the southeast of Jilin Province . It belongs to the administrative area of ​​the prefecture-level city of Tonghua . Ji'an covers an area of ​​3,408.18 square kilometers and has a population of 226,583. The city borders the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the southeast, separated by the Yalu Jiang . The ruins of the cities of Wandu Shancheng and Guonei Cheng are located in Ji'an as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site " Capitals and Tombs of the Ancient Kingdom of Koguryo " .
