Jiang Zhenghua ( Chinese  蒋正华 ; * October 1937 in Fuyang , Zhejiang ) is a politician , demographer and university professor in the People's Republic of China , who was chairman of the Chinese Democratic Party of Peasants and Workers (CPDWP) from 1997 to 2007 and between 2003 and 2008 Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress was.

Life

Jiang Zhenghua, a member of the Han Chinese , began studying electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Jiaotong University in Shanghai after attending school in 1954, graduating from Jiaotong University in Xi'an in 1958 . He then became lecturer in the control department of the Center for Population Research of the Institute for Systematic Engineering in 1958 and later deputy director of this Center for Population Research, before he was last until 1978 director of the Institute for Population and Economics. In 1978 he took over a professorship at Jiaotong University Xi'an, where he taught demography until 1991 . In 1981 he was awarded the gold medal of the Bombay International Demography Academy and in 1982 he was a graduate of the International Demography Academy India in Mumbai . In the following years he was a visiting professor at the University of Paris and the Stanford University held, as an expert before the 1986 India International Development Center again in India worked.

Upon his return, Jiang became a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in 1988 and was a member until 1998. From 1991 to 1999 he was Deputy Minister of the State Commission for Family Planning and thus a close collaborator of its chairman Peng Peiyun . During this time he was also President of the Chinese Society for Technology and Demography, advisor and later a member of the Executive Council of the Demographic Society of China, Vice President of the Demographic Institute of Shaanxi Province and technical advisor to the State Office for Census. In 1992 he joined the Chinese Democratic Party of Peasants and Workers (CPDWP), one of eight other approved political parties in the People's Republic of China alongside the Communist Party of China , and immediately became a member of its Central Committee (CC).

In 1993, Jiang also became a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as a member of its Education, Science, Culture, Health, and Sports Subcommittee, and served on both bodies until 1998. Furthermore, in 1993 he was appointed a member of the International Demographic Society. Successor to Lu Jiaxi , Jiang Zhenghua became chairman of the Chinese Democratic Party of Peasants and Workers in November 1997 and held this position until December 2007, when Sang Guowei became the new chairman of the CDPWP. As such, he was vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People from 1998 to 2003 and a member of the Preparatory Committee for the Handover of Macau in 1999 . He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 2003 to 2008 .

In addition to his activities as a university lecturer and politician, Jiang Zhenghua wrote several non-fiction books on the analysis and planning of population planning.
