Jim Trumpeter

Jim Trompeter (* 1961 ) is an American jazz pianist.

Trumpeter won a music scholarship to the University of Miami while in high school . As a member of his Concert Jazz Band , he received the Down Beat Award for Best Instrumental Jazz Performer , the Stan Kenton Memorial Scholarship Award of the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Down Beat Award five times in the Large Ensemble category .

As a student he became a member of the Miami Sound Machine . He toured with the band for three years, contributed to their twice- platinum album Let it Loose , and worked as a composer and arranger for their live performances.

Trumpeter lives in Chicago, where he teaches at the Roosevelt University Conservatory, works as a jingle composer for WMS Gaming Inc. and leads his own jazz band, with which he recorded the album Four's and Two's .

As a sideman he worked a. a. with Claudio Roditi , Dennis Miller , Paul Rodriguez , Freddie Hubbard , Joe Lovano , Arturo Sandoval , Tim Hagans , Kurt Elling , Bob James , Dave Liebman , Randy Brecker , Rick Margitza , Steve Rodby , Paul Wertico , Paquito D'Rivera , Bob Mintzer , Eddie Daniels , Fareed Haque , Conte Condoli, Lou Marini, Andy Narell , Scott Wendholt, George Garzone, Louie Bellson , Bill Watrous and Carl Fontana .

He has also been involved in productions by Gloria Estefan , Jon Secada , Boy George , Amy Grant , David Lee Roth , Whitney Houston , Sammy Davis Junior , Oprah Winfrey , Shecky Green and Art Garfunkel .
