Jindřich Šimon Baar , also Heinrich Simon Baar , pseudonym Jan Psohlavý (born February 7, 1869 in Klentsch , † October 24, 1925 ibid) was a Czech Catholic priest and writer. He is considered a representative of realism in country prose.

Life

Baar attended high school in Domažlice from 1880 to 1888 . After graduating from high school, he entered a seminary in Prague and was ordained a priest in 1892. He worked in some places as a clergyman and in this function tried to reform the church, first as a chaplain from 1892 to 1894 in Přimda , then until 1895 in Spálené Poříčí , then in Stochov , Únětice , then in the years 1895 to 1897 in Ořech .

From 1899 to 1909 he worked in Klobuky near Slaný and had a new rectory built. He then returned to Ořech as a pastor from 1909 to 1919 .

In 1919 Jindřich Šimon Baar was retired and returned to his place of birth. His descriptions of life in the villages were particularly successful with the Czechs living in the USA .
