Jlloyd Samuel (born March 29, 1981 in San Fernando , Trinidad and Tobago , † May 15, 2018 in High Legh , Cheshire ) was a football player from Trinidad and Tobago. He last played for Paykan Tehran . His first name is pronounced "Jay-Lloyd".
Career
Samuel began his career in the children's division of Charlton Athletic before signing a contract with Aston Villa . As a youth he played for Senrab FC and West Ham United with professionals such as Paul Konchesky , Bobby Zamora and Fitz Hall . The defender made his competitive debut for Aston Villa in September 1999 in the League Cup against Chester City , which ended 5-0 for the Villans. Samuel was loaned to Gillingham FC from 2001 to 2002 . 2002-2007 he was under contract with Aston Villa. After that he was employed by the Bolton Wanderers . His main weakness was his nervousness, which was criticized by most of his coaches, including David O'Leary . In 2006, Samuel wanted to take part in the soccer World Cup in Germany for his country of birth Trinidad & Tobago , but could not meet the requirements of FIFA .
After sustained injuries, the contract with Bolton Wanderers was not extended after the 2010/11 season. In search of a new club, he completed part of the preparation at Leeds United , but where he was not given a professional contract due to another injury.
In January 2012 he signed a contract with Esteghlal Tehran . In June 2014 he moved to Paykan Tehran . He ended his active career in July 2015.
In May 2018, Samuel was killed in a car accident in Cheshire, north west England .
