João Alves dos Santos

João Alves dos Santos OFMCap (born December 9, 1956 in Alto Alegre ; † April 9, 2015 ) was a Brazilian religious and bishop of Paranaguá .

Life

João Alves dos Santos joined the religious community of the Capuchins , made his profession on December 31, 1976 and was ordained a priest on December 4, 1982 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on August 2, 2006 Bishop of Paranaguá . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Cláudio Cardinal Hummes OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on September 30th of the same year; Co- consecrators were José Soares Filho OFMCap, Bishop of Carolina , and Alfredo Ernest Novak CSsR , Former Bishop of Paranaguá. As a motto he chose COMO AQUELE QUE SERVE . The inauguration in the Diocese of Paranaguá took place on October 18 of the same year.
