Jo Schöpfer (* 1951 in Coburg ) is a German sculptor .

life and work

From 1973 to 1974, Jo Schöpfer was doing an internship at Günter Behnisch's architectural office in Stuttgart . From 1974 to 1980 he studied sculpture with Professor Herbert Baumann at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and art history at the University of Stuttgart . In 1985 he received a work at the Art Foundation Baden-Württemberg . From 1985 to 1990 he was a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Karlsruhe . In 1986 he was awarded the Phillip Morris Prize in Munich and from 1987 to 1988 he was on a scholarship at the Villa Massimo in Rome .

His works have been exhibited in:

The artist and his work are at the interface between architecture and sculpture. He has lived and worked in Berlin since 1966 . Jo Schöpfer was a board member of the German Association of Artists from 2002 to 2012 .
