Jo Schulz
Jo Schulz (born March 31, 1920 in Bautzen , † April 8, 2007 in Berlin ; actually Johannes Schulz ) was a German writer , playwright and screenwriter and cabaret artist .
Life
Jo Schulz was born on March 31, 1920 in Bautzen as the son of a painter. After the Second World War he toured the GDR with the cabaret Böse Sieben and wrote for satirical magazines such as Eulenspiegel . One of his best-known stage works is the libretto for the operetta Messeschlager Gisela, which premiered in Berlin's Metropoltheater in 1960 . In 1969 he received the Heinrich Heine Prize from the Ministry of Culture of the GDR for his work and the Erich Weinert Medal from the GDR in 1971 , and in 1985 he received the Goethe Prize from the City of Berlin .
His grave is in the churchyard of the Seemannskirche in Prerow .
