Joachim Boettcher

Joachim Böttcher (born January 24, 1946 in Oberdorla , Thuringia) is a German painter , draftsman , graphic artist and sculptor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Joachim Böttcher learned to be a stonemason and from 1967 to 1972 studied painting and graphics at the Dresden University of Fine Arts with Herbert Kunze and Gerhard Kettner . From 1980 to 1983 he was a master class student at the GDR Academy of Arts with the sculptor Werner Stötzer . Since that time he started his own sculptural work. Since 1983 he has been living freelance in Berlin, and since 1991 at Stabeshöhe in the Uckermark . In 2000 he had a teaching assignment for sculpture at the Art Academy Berlin-Weißensee . In 2003 Joachim Böttcher received a scholarship from the Kunstverein Röderhof eV, and in 2007 at the Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop. In 2010 he received the Brandenburg Art Prize of the MOZ ( Märkische Oderzeitung ) for sculpture, and in 2016 the Honorary Prize of the Prime Minister of Brandenburg for a life's work.

His college friends include a. the painters Rainer Zille and Stefan Plenkers . Joachim Böttcher is the younger brother of the painter Manfred Böttcher .
