Joachim Johann Mader

Joachim Johann Mader (born August 7, 1626 in Hanover , † August 17, 1680 in Schöningen ) was a German educator and historian .

Life

Mader came to the University of Helmstedt in 1646 , where he was particularly under the influence of Christoph Schrader . In Helmstedt he obtained a bachelor's degree . On Schrader's recommendation, in 1651 he was rector of the grammar school in Schöningen, which was only founded in 1638 . He worked there until his death. He turned down an appointment as rector of Magdeburg in 1660 .

In addition to the school in Schöningen, Mader also made outstanding contributions to the library of Duke August II . The duke is said to have also acted against his evocation.

His estate with letters and extracts from medieval sources is stored in the Lower Saxony State Archives at the Wolfenbüttel location .
