Joachim Lucchesi

Joachim Lucchesi (born January 28, 1948 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) is a German musicologist.

His areas of expertise include music history with a focus on the period from the 17th to the 21st century, the social and reception history of music, the history of musical interpretation, the history of media and technology in music, music aesthetics, music philosophy, the history of music therapy, and the history of theater and literature .

Career

Joachim Lucchesi studied musicology and art history at the Humboldt University in Berlin, where he received his doctorate in 1978. phil. in musicology on the subject of " On the function and history of contemporary drama music and some aspects of the practice of acting music ". From 1976 to 1996 he worked and published as a research assistant at the Institute for Music of the Academy of Arts Berlin.

In 1996 and 1997 he held two DAAD visiting professorships in the USA : at the University of Connecticut in Storrs and at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . From 2000 to 2003 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Literary Studies at the University of Karlsruhe / Bertolt Brecht Laboratory. In 2004 and 2005, a substitute professorship for historical musicology at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences in Magdeburg followed . Since 1992 he has been teaching as a lecturer at home and abroad, for example at the Technical University of Berlin , the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin , the Stanford University in California (Overseas Studies Program Berlin), the Brazilian Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte , the University of Karlsruhe , the Ludwigsburg University of Education , the Magdeburg-Stendal University and the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg . In 2008 Joachim Lucchesi was visiting professor at Waseda University Tokyo , Japan . From 2008-2013 he carried out an intercultural German-Japanese research project on music and theater in the 20th century with the University of Osaka . Since 2011 he has been an artistic teacher in the subject of music history at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . There he is working on the DFG- funded edition of Hermann Scherchen's letters . In 2012 he was awarded the title of honorary professor by the Ludwigsburg University of Education .

Joachim Lucchesi is a member of the executive board of the Kurt Weill Society in Dessau and is a member of its scientific advisory board.
