Joachim Wenthin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joachim Wenthin (born December 10, 1778 in Emden ; † 1857 ) was a German organ builder .

life and work

His father was the organ builder Johann Friedrich Wenthin , who was very well known in East Frisia . An inscription on the bellows plate of the organ in Groothusen indicates that Joachim was involved in the construction as an employee.

Joachim Wenthin became a citizen of Emden on December 30, 1808 and successfully continued his father's workshop from around 1805. Maintenance work on organs in East Frisia was carried out for over a decade. When in 1816 he received the offer to build a new organ in the New Church in Emden, he turned it down due to overload. Wenthin increasingly relocated the company to Emsland and Tecklenburg and lived there from around 1820. From 1840 he worked with the business partner W. Meese. Together they created the organ in St. Vitus, Bokeloh .
