Joel John Lynch (born October 3, 1987 in Eastbourne ) is an England-born Welsh football player.

Athletic career

Brighton & Hove Albion

Joel Lynch went through the youth division of Brighton & Hove Albion and made his debut for the Brighton first team in early January 2006 . The beginning of his career was not a good star, because his club rose at the end of the season as bottom of the table in Football League One . The first full season was only marginally better, his team finished 18th and was far from a direct return to promotion. Lynch was able to distinguish himself at least as an undisputed regular player and aroused the interest of higher-class clubs. He came to 39 league appearances, but could not achieve a goal. The 2007/08 season was more successful for the club with 7th place, but the promotion was missed. In the next season Joel Lynch lost his place in the regular formation and pushed for a club change, this was finally granted to him in the form of a loan deal to Nottingham Forest .

Nottingham Forest

Lynch quickly gained a foothold in Nottingham and benefited from the injury to defender Julian Bennett . His team managed the hard-fought relegation in the second-highest English division in the 2008/09 season . In July 2009 he signed a three-year contract with Nottingham Forest and changed clubs for £ 200,000. In the 2009/10 season he played ten league games for his team and only missed promotion to the Premier League in the play-off semifinals . In 2010/11 Forest reached the play-offs after a sixth place in the table, but failed again prematurely. Lynch remained behind the loaned Ryan Bertrand and Paul Konchesky only supplementary player.

Huddersfield Town

On July 11, 2012 Lynch moved to the second division promoted Huddersfield Town and signed a three-year contract.
