Joel Marston

Joel Marston (born March 30, 1922 in Washington, DC , District of Columbia , † October 18, 2012 in Jacksonville , Florida ) was an American actor .

Life

Marston grew up the son of a vaudeville musician, who often took him to appearances with Red Skelton and Jack Benny . After graduating from high school in 1941, he took acting classes at the Pasadena Playhouse Theater School and appeared in several Broadway productions in the mid-1940s . He received the late 1940s a movie contract with Allied Artists and had his feature film debut in the Charlie Chan - Police drama The Sky Dragon . As a result, he had a number of small roles in various films, some without credit in the credits. He was seen alongside Audie Murphy in John Huston's literary adaptation The Red Medal for Bravery , in the HG Wells adaptation Battle of the Worlds and in the thriller Murder in the Clouds alongside Doris Day . He played his most prominent film role in 1961 in Andrew L. Stone's crime film Firestorm alongside David Janssen .

From the mid-1950s, Marston also appeared in television productions, such as the television series Dragnet and the television shows The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show and Oops, Lucy . Between the late 1970s and the early 1980s he worked as a dialogue coach for William Shatner, among others, and in this role he worked on Star Trek: The Film and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan . In 1986 he retired from the acting business and worked as an aqua fitness trainer in Jacksonville until old age .
