Johann Baptist Henneberg

Johann Baptist Henneberg (born December 5, 1768 in Vienna ; † November 27, 1822 there ) was an Austrian composer , pianist , organist and conductor .

Life

Henneberg was Kapellmeister at the Freihaustheater from 1790 to 1801 , then at the Theater an der Wien until 1803 . He later got a job as an organist with Prince Nikolaus II Esterházy de Galantha in Eisenstadt , where he also conducted opera performances. From 1814 Henneberg Regenschori was at the Hofkirche in Vienna, and from 1818 to 1822 also organist in the imperial court music band.

Henneberg played a major role in the preparation of Mozart's opera The Magic Flute . After Mozart had conducted the premieres on September 30th and October 1st, 1791, Henneberg also took over the direction of the subsequent performances. Henneberg also created several operas himself, which were very popular at the time.

In 1797, together with Ludwig van Beethoven , he composed minuets and German dances for a masked ball of the pension society of visual artists, which were performed on November 26, 1797 in the Great Redoutensaal of the Vienna Hofburg .
