Johann Caspar von der Heyden (born August 9, 1740 in Steinbusch , † September 11, 1807 in Kremlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the owner of Richlich ( Czarnikau district ) Johann Adolf von der Heyde (n) and his wife Abigail Judith, née von Krockow .

Military career

Heyden visited from October 11, 1752, the cadet school in Berlin and took effect on 1 January 1757 as a corporal corporal in the Dragoons "of Blanckensee" the Prussian army one. During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles near Prague , Kolin , Breslau , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Hochkirch , Liegnitz , Torgau and the battle near Reichenbach . During that time he became ensign on August 28, 1758 and second lieutenant on April 3, 1760 .

After the war Heyden became Prime Lieutenant on October 4, 1772 . In 1778/79 he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession , where he distinguished himself in the battle near Brüx. On November 4, 1778 he was promoted to staff captain and on June 22, 1789 to major . In this capacity, he was appointed squadron chief on November 5, 1792 . During the First Coalition War , Heyden fought at the Valmy cannonade , in the battle at the Kettricher Hof , the battles near Pirmasens and Kaiserslautern, and in the battles near Zweibrücken and Johanniskreuz. For his behavior, Heyden received the order Pour le Mérite on August 21, 1793 .

On June 13, 1798, he became a lieutenant colonel , rose to colonel on May 21, 1799 , and was given command of the regiment on May 6, 1803. Heyden took part in the mobilization , but he was physically exhausted. At the beginning of the Fourth Coalition War he received his resignation on February 22, 1806 with the character of a major general and a pension of 800 thalers. He died on September 11, 1807 on Kremlin (Soldin County).

family

Heyden received on February 3, 1778 the royal permission to marry Karoline Wilhelmine Helene von Belling (* October 19, 1755 - February 25, 1813), but only on the condition that as a widow she does not receive a pension. The couple had the following children:

  • Christian Adolf Ludwig Gottlieb (March 10, 1785 - January 5, 1847)
  • Friedrich Wilhelm (June 15, 1787; † November 15, 1847), Rittmeister in the 8th Hussar Regiment ⚭ 1821 Karoline Mathilde Isenburg (* December 6, 1803; † December 24, 1882)
