Johann Christoph von Ossenbruch

Moritz Johann Andreas Wilhelm Christoph von Ossenbruch (born June 14, 1743 in Behrendorf near Weitmar , † November 10, 1804 in Allenstein ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were Jobst Moritz Johannes von Ossenbruch (born January 29, 1710), heir to Behrendorf, and his wife Sophie Elisabeth Friederike, née von Westhoven. The Behrendorf estate no longer exists today; the United Steelworks Bochum was later located there .

Military career

Ossenbruch came in 1760 as a private corporal in the "Finck von Finckenstein" dragoon regiment of the Prussian army . During the Seven Years' War he fought near Liegnitz , the siege of Dresden and in the battles near Wahlstatt , Regenwalde and Koblin. In the battle near Friedland Ossenbruch received a blow in the shoulder and head.

After the war he became ensign on July 25, 1764 and second lieutenant on January 1, 1770 . As such fought Ossenbruch 1778/79 in the War of the Bavarian Succession , where he worked on 8 December 1778 to first lieutenant was promoted. On February 13, 1785, he was promoted to staff captain , on June 16, 1790 major and on December 28, 1791 squadron chief . During the campaign in Poland , Ossenbruch was involved in the capture of Warsaw and the battle near Powonsk in 1794/95. On July 14, 1798 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 28, 1800 to colonel . As such, Ossenbruch was given command of his regiment on July 7, 1800. On December 8, 1803, he received his resignation with a pension of 800 thalers.

Ossenbruch died unmarried on November 10, 1804 in Allenstein.
