Johann Dietrich von Hoverbeck

Johann Dietrich von Hoverbeck (born December 17, 1652 in Hohenstein in Masuria , East Prussia , † June 5, 1714 in Königsberg ) was a Brandenburg - Prussian diplomat.

The son of Johann von Hoverbeck (1606–1682) grew up at the electoral court of Berlin. Since 1666 he received his education on his father's estate Hohenstein in Masuria . He then studied law at the University of Königsberg . In 1674 he was appointed court judge. Until 1676 he learned the Polish language in Poland , where he also studied Polish constitutional law. He then traveled to the Netherlands , France and England . From 1685 he worked as envoy extraordinary to Denmark . From 1690 to 1703 he was the ambassador of Brandenburg-Prussia to Poland. In 1690 he was elected by Elector Friedrich III. appointed Privy Councilor and Real Privy Councilor in 1697. In 1704 Hoverbeck became the Prussian court judge in Königsberg. In 1712 he entered the state government of Prussia in Königsberg.

He was the brother-in-law of Christoph von Rappe , who had also been the guardian of his two sons since the Hoverbeck couple died just a few months apart.
