Johann Franz Anton von Zedtwitz
Johann Franz Anton Baron von Zedtwitz (* 1713 in Wittingreith , Bohemia , Holy Roman Empire ; † March 17, 1784 in the Timisoara Fortress , Habsburg Monarchy ) was the commanding general of the Temescher Banat and holder of the Knight's Cross of the Order of Maria Theresa .
Live and act
Johann Franz Anton von Zedtwitz joined the imperial army in 1729 , where he took part in the campaigns on the Rhine, in Italy and in the War of Succession (1740–1748). In 1753 he became a lieutenant colonel in the Sluiner and at the outbreak of the Seven Years' War in 1756 he was a colonel in the 1st Banal Border Regiment. In the 1758 campaign he defended the Reinerz post in the Glatz district against the Duke of Braunschweig , drove the cavalry of the Fouquet Corps to Glatz, and took part in the 1759 campaign near Böhlen not far from Meißen .
As a result of his bravery, Zedtwitz was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Maria Theresa Order in 1759. In 1760 he made a living in the battle of Dresden . In 1761 he received the rank of major general . In the battle near Döbeln he was in command of the Austrian troops and was taken prisoner in Prussia on May 12, 1762. In 1773 he was promoted to Lieutenant Field Marshal and in 1783 to Feldzeugmeister .
From 1775 to March 17, 1784 Johann Franz Anton Freiherr von Zedtwitz was the commanding general of the Temescher Banat. and from 1780 owner of the Imperial Infantry Regiment No. 13 . Zedtwitz died after 55 years of service at the age of 71 in Timisoara.
