Johann Friedrich Hombergk zu Vach ( Latinized Ioannes Fridericus Hombergk ; born April 15, 1673 in Marburg ; † February 20, 1748 ibid) was a German legal scholar and rector and chancellor of the University of Marburg .

Life

After home schooling, Hombergk went to Vach, who comes from the Hessian family of the same name , at the grammar school in Marburg in 1679 and studied at the local university from 1686. In 1691 he was an intern at the Imperial Court of Justice in Wetzlar . As court master of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm Adolf von Nassau-Siegen , he went with him to study at the University of Utrecht from 1692 to 1698 . He then went on a trip to England . There he made the acquaintance of Richard Bentley . From 1701 he was court master of Prince Georg von Hessen-Kassel in Marburg.

Hombergk zu Vach became an associate professor in 1703 , then in 1708, as fifth full professor , full professor of Roman law at the University of Marburg. 1709 he was in Marburg for doctor of law doctorate . In 1719 he rose to the fourth professor of the law faculty and became chancellor of the university, a year later he took over the office of rector there. In 1733 he became third professor of law, then in 1742 professor primarius and vice-chancellor of the university.

His son Aemilius Ludwig Hombergk zu Vach also became Professor of Law and Chancellor of the university.
