Johann Friedrich Reinert (born January 21, 1769 in Unterwüsten ; † May 19, 1820 in Soest ) was a German teacher and rector of the grammar school in Lemgo .

Life

Reinert was born as the son of Catharina Ilsabein, b. Dethards and Johann Anton Reinert were born in Unterwüsten in what is now Bad Salzuflen 's Wüsten district. The family lived as a resident on a farm in the Salzetal .

When his parents moved to nearby Lemgo, ten-year-old Johann Friedrich entered the Lemgoer Gymnasium. Here he found his sponsor in Rector Mensching due to his hard work, his strong talent and growing openness to the spiritual world. Reinert later left Lemgo and studied with the famous philologist Friedrich August Wolf in Halle an der Saale . After completing his studies, he resisted the lure of an academic post and returned to his homeland in Lippe , which “could not be replaced by anything”.

In 1797 he ended his activity as a private tutor in a Braker family and started an apprenticeship at the grammar school . As prorector, on April 29, 1797, Reinert received the right of income for the city of Lemgo free of charge . After his appointment as rector, the grammar school soon acquired a reputation that extended far beyond the city and state borders.

Foolish chatter, foul gossip and slander were the reasons that Reinert created a second home in Kirchheide , in which he withdrew and in which he enjoyed the necessary peace. After further, diverse hostilities, a dispute with the council and the citizens of Lemgo, he left his home for Soest in 1819, without being able to be held by Princess Pauline in his position. In addition to Heinrich Schierenberg , who later became a professor and grammar school director in Detmold , Reinert followed 23 of his Lemgo students to his new place of work at the Archigymnasium in Soest.

Friedrich Reinert died lonely at the age of 51 and bitter about his inglorious departure from Lemgo on May 19, 1820 in Soest.
