Johann Karl Jacob Lohmeyer

Johann Karl Jacob Lohmeyer (born April 27, 1776 in Potsdam , † July 22, 1852 in Berlin ) was a German military doctor in Prussia .

Life

From April 1, 1797 to May 1, 1799 he was a pupil of Pépinière . In 1799 he became a company surgeon in the 9th Artillery Regiment (one of the first artillery regiments). On October 29, 1799 he became chief surgeon at the Pépinière. In January 1806 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. After two years as a staff surgeon, he was dismissed in 1809 in order to be able to accept a position as personal physician for Count von der Schulenburg ( Joseph Ferdinand Adolf Achaz von der Schulenburg ?). In 1815 he returned to active service as a surgeon in chief. He was the conductor of a main field hospital and from 1818 served on the medical staff of the Prussian Army . Since December 1829 general physician, he was appointed second general staff physician on January 25, 1844. On October 2, 1845, he was characterized as a secret chief medical officer and appointed to the medical section of the Prussian Ministry of Spiritual, Educational and Medical Affairs.

On January 12, 1847, at the age of 71, he was appointed First General Staff Doctor. As head of the military medical system, he was responsible for preparing the major improvements in the Prussian medical service. In 1851 he was retired. He is buried in the old garrison cemetery in Berlin-Mitte. He was a member of the Berlin Masonic Lodge Zum Pilgrim .
