Johann Wilhelm von Wiebel
Johann Wilhelm Wiebel , from 1827 von Wiebel , (born October 24, 1767 in Berlin , † January 6, 1847 in Berlin) was a German doctor and member of the military.
Life
After studying in Berlin, Wiebel became a military doctor in 1784. During the Rhine campaign in 1792 he became a medical officer. Of the many stations in his professional career, there are: Koblenz , Trier , Luxembourg , Longwy , Verdun , Grandpre and Mainz . Due to his dissertation “Analecta quaed. de ulceribus pedum vetustis ”he received his doctorate in Erlangen .
In 1797 he rose to the position of first chief medical officer as deputy of the Pépinière . In 1800 he went into deliberate imprisonment in France to explore the hospital system.
In November 1801 he was appointed by the king to be a doctor in the Berlin Cadet Corps . From 1807 he was a general surgeon in the Guard Corps. In 1808 he became personal physician to the King of Prussia , Friedrich Wilhelm III. , and in this mission he accompanies the ruler to Saint Petersburg . After returning from Russia , he built a so-called Russian bathing establishment in Potsdam. A military hospital is also being built for the guard.
He earned great merit by participating in the campaigns of 1813-1815 , in which he was in the battles at Kulm , Leipzig , Bar-sur-Aube and Brienne . In 1815 Wiebel became the Royal Secret Medical Councilor and, from 1822, First General Staff Doctor in the Army and Chief of Military Medical Affairs .
In 1827 Wiebel was raised to the nobility and knight of various orders, such as the Prussian, French, Russian and Austrian. Among other things, he was a knight of the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class, and holder of the Iron Cross, 2nd class. He was a member of various academies and societies with a medical-surgical focus. In Berlin he was a member of the Minerva Masonic Lodge .
He celebrated 50 years of service in 1834. Only a few newspaper articles can be mentioned as literary legacies.
