Johann Peter Lüth

Johann Peter Lüth (born May 10, 1937 in Stargard ; † July 31, 2014 in Völklingen ) was a German architect and state curator of the Saarland .

Life

Lüth grew up in Pomerania . The family fled to the West in 1945 and settled in Emden . From 1957 to 1960 Lüth studied architecture and urban planning at the TU Berlin and from 1960 to 1961 at the TH Hannover . In 1961/62 he interrupted his studies and worked for Fritz Eggeling in Göttingen . In 1962 he continued his studies at the TU Berlin until 1965 and in the meantime passed his humanistic examination in biology, anthropology, German and English literature in 1964. A year later he finished his studies with a degree in engineering.

From 1966 he worked as an architect with his own office, at times as "Werkgruppe 3" with Josef von Waldbott and Helmut Kreutzer . In 1974/75 he held a teaching position at the Saarland University of Applied Sciences in the field of architecture. In 1975 he gave up his own architecture office and became head of the building department of the Saarbrücken city association . During this time, the renovation of Saarbrücken Castle and the construction of the central pavilion by Gottfried Böhm . In 1985 he was appointed head of the State Conservatory Office of Saarland as the successor to Johannes Habich . As a state curator, Lüth worked intensively to preserve Saarland's industrial culture. He secured the Völklinger Hütte as a monument and also the Alte Schmelz workers' settlement in St. Ingbert . In 2002 he was retired due to reaching the age limit.

Lüth had been married to Lieselotte Hellenthal since 1965 and had two daughters.

  • 1975/76: House and studio of Gerhard and Katrin Heisler, Saarbrücken

  • 1974/75: multi-purpose hall, St. Ingbert- Oberwürzbach
  • 1971/72: Saarland butcher's shop building, Saarbrücken 1982/83 Conversion into a business building with offices
