Johannes-Sebastian Strauss (* 1965 in Berlin ) is a German guitarist and singer .

Life

Strauss attended the Wilmersdorf music school from 1977 to 1979 and belonged to the first generation of rockabilly revival musicians in Germany in the mid-1980s . In the early 1990s he founded and played in various bands such as the Sundowners, with which he a. a. toured with Johnny Legend in Germany and the Netherlands. In June 9, 1992, Strauss and the Sundowners were given the opportunity to accompany Carl Perkins at the 21st anniversary party of the Hard Rock Café in Berlin. Three days earlier, George Harrison had taken on the part of the accompanying guitarist in London. In 1992 the band "Nimm 4", which for legal reasons had to rename itself to "The Graduates", won the " SonyUX-S Talent Award “, for which the video U-Bahn fahr'n , produced and broadcast in Jochen Bendel's music program POP on TV Tele 5 . In 1997 Strauss met Ray van Zeschau , where he played a couple of times for van Zeschau's band Ray & The Rockets . At the same time, both still operated the joint side project The Legendary Rockin 'Satellites . In addition to his work as a musician, he also worked as a booker and promoter at Club Tränenpalast and at Huxley’s .

After the turn of the millennium, Strauss founded the band “ Big Bad Shakin ' ”, who toured with Wanda Jackson , as well as the Hannes & The Vinyl Freaks , with whom he went on a US tour for the first time in 2006 and a. participated in the 7th Rockabilly Festival in Jackson, Tennessee .

2007 followed recordings for the record The SUN recordings and more in the legendary SUN Studio in Memphis (Tennessee) for which he was able to win Wanda Jackson for a song, which was released the following year on TCY Records in Switzerland. In 2008, Strauss accompanied Wanda Jackson again on their tour , this time with the vinyl freaks . From 2002 to 2007 he accompanied actor Rolf Zacher with “Big Bad Shakin” , who performed songs by Gene Vincent , Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley at his readings . In 2007 he founded the swing band "Long John & his Ballroom Kings". In 2011, Strauss, with fellow musicians of the Long John & his Ballroom Kings , got a six-month permanent engagement for the show Peppermint Club at the Wintergarten Theater in Berlin, in which she appeared as Mint Tones in the show Peppermint Club performed in front of over 55,000 spectators on 140 evenings. Under the abbreviation HoH (for Hombre Hannez) he reviewed records for the Dynamite music magazine for 20 years (1995-2015) .

In January 2010, Strauss established an irregular swing music event under the motto Capital Swing at Ballhaus Berlin on Chausseestrasse
