Johannes Beilharz

Johannes Beilharz (born January 15, 1956 in Oberndorf am Neckar ) is a German writer , translator and painter.

Life

Beilharz studied English and Romance languages at the University of Regensburg and English literature and creative writing at the University of Colorado in Boulder (Colorado) . From 1977 to 1985 he lived in the USA , then until 2002 in Vöhringen (Württemberg) , from 2002 to 2012 in Stuttgart and since then alternately in Pliezhausen - Rübgarten and Rome .

Since 1978 he has published poems, short stories and translations of poetry from German, English, French, Spanish and Catalan in various American and German magazines and e-zines in English and German . He has translated poems by John Ashbery , Barbara Guest , Derek Walcott , Christine Lavant , Ingeborg Bachmann , Hugo von Hofmannsthal , Jorge Luis Borges and Erwin Einzinger, among others .

Pseudonyms under which he occasionally wrote and writes include a. Leonard Blumfeld, James Steerforth, Niebla and Justinian Belisar.

His artistic activity, which he resumed in 1998 after a long break, has led to exhibitions in France , Baden-Württemberg , India and Italy since 2002 . Some of his works are part of private collections in Germany, France, India, Italy and the USA.

Beilharz is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS) Baden-Württemberg and is funded by the Association of German Writers in Baden-Württemberg.
