Johannes Gehrig

Johannes Gehrig (born August 11, 1797 in Altenschlirf ; † March 4, 1877 ibid) was a Hessian farmer and liberal politician and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Johannes Gehrig was the son of Johannes Gehrig and his wife Anna Maria, née Roth. Gehrig, who was a Protestant, married Anna Maria, née Deuchert, on May 4, 1819 in Altenschlirf. He was a farmer in Altenschlirf and lived in the USA from 1848 to 1856 . In 1821 he was mayor of Altenschlirf.

From 1826 to 1830 and again from 1835 to 1841 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of Oberhessen 4 / Lauterbach .
