Johannes Hörnig

Johannes Hörnig , also Hannes Hörnig , (born April 1, 1921 in Leppersdorf near Dresden , † January 24, 2001 in Berlin ) was a German SED functionary. From 1955 to 1989 he was head of the science department at the Central Committee of the SED .

Life

The worker's son did an apprenticeship as a locksmith at Glasses Body in Radeberg . From 1940 to 1945 he served, most recently as a sergeant, in the Wehrmacht.

After the war he joined the SPD and became a member of the SED in 1946 after the union of the SPD and KPD . After a new teacher course , he became a primary school teacher in Obersteina near Kamenz . There he rose to the district school board in 1950. After studying at the party college , he became a sector leader in 1953 and head of the science department in the SED Central Committee in 1955 (as the successor to Kurt Hager ), which he remained until 1989. From 1967 to 1989 he was a member of the Central Committee of the SED .

In 1959, 1971 and 1980 Hörnig received the Patriotic Order of Merit (VVO) and in 1981 the VVO in gold. In 1975 he was awarded the battle for service to the people and fatherland and in 1972 and 1976 with the Medal of Merit of the National People's Army . In 1984 he was honored as a hero of work . Hörnig was awarded an honorary doctorate (Dr. phil. Hc) from KMU Leipzig , and in 1982 he was given an honorary professorship.
