Johannes Lang (musician)

Johannes Lang (born July 21, 1989 in Düsseldorf ) is a church musician , bell expert , choir director and winner of numerous international music competitions. He is a jury member for the organ at the German national competition Jugend musiziert and since October 2016 district choirmaster at the Friedenskirche in Potsdam - Sanssouci .

Live and act

Lang grew up in Märkt in the border triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland and studied in Freiburg im Breisgau historical keyboard instruments with Robert Hill and church music (organ with Martin Schmeding ) and Steffen Schreyer, among other things, improvisation, piano, singing, ensemble singing and conducting at the Freiburg University of Music . After completing his bachelor's degrees with distinction in summer 2013, he finished both master’s courses with top grades in summer 2015.

He has been an officially certified bell expert since autumn 2015 . In addition to eleven first prizes as organist , harpsichordist and pianist at the national youth music competition , he was among other things as organist winner of the competitions in Lübeck (2009), Bellelay (2011), Leipzig (Bach competition 2012) and winner of the competitions in Ljubljana (2007), Herford (2008) and Munich (ARD 2011).

With his ensemble for early music tr! Jo he won the 2nd prize and the audience prize at the 2nd International Berlin Bach Competition in 2015. He is a scholarship holder a. a. the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and is dedicated to intensive, worldwide concert activities. He has worked with musicians such as Gottfried von der Goltz , Teodor Currentzis and Markus Landerer and has appeared as a soloist on organ and harpsichord with the Bergische Symphoniker , the Badische Kammerphilharmonie, the Philharmonic Orchestra Freiburg and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks .

After working as a cantor at the Kreuzkirche Freiburg from October 2009 to September 2013, Johannes Lang was city cantor of the Protestant parish in Lörrach from September 2013 to September 2016 with a focus on choral work and the establishment of the new ecumenical church music festival Golden Autumn as well as teaching assistant for liturgical organ playing / improvisation and organ literature from the Freiburg University of Music.

Since October 2016 he has been the district choirmaster at the Friedenskirche in Potsdam-Sanssouci. He is a member of the jury for the organ at the national youth music competition , and he also makes numerous concert recordings.
