Johannes Quester

Johannes Quester (born October 3, 1981 in Dresden ) is a German theater actor .

Life

Quester started acting in kindergarten . In his youth he was artistically active in many fields. He learned guitar and drums and played in several bands. From 1992 to 1998 he took private pantomime lessons with Ralf Herzog in Dresden. From 2001 to 2005 he completed his acting training at the Rostock University of Music and Theater . He completed his studies in 2005 with a diploma as a stage actor (stage maturity examination). He had his first permanent engagement from 2005 to 2007 at the Rostock Volkstheater . The Rostock drama director Johanna Schall had already used Quester in small roles during his studies at the Rostock Volkstheater and engaged him with a two-year contract after graduating. In 2007, he and his girlfriend moved to the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater (2007–2008) in Zittau . This was followed by a brief engagement at the Bielefeld Theater (2008–2009). From the 2009/10 season until 2014 Quester was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken .

Quester played a wide repertoire on stage , which included plays by William Shakespeare , the German-speaking authors of the classical period, the drama of the turn of the century , but also plays from European modernism and contemporary theater.

His stage roles included u. a .: Orsino in Was ihr wollt (Volkstheater Rostock; premiere: March 2007), the title role in Hamlet (Volkstheater Rostock, 2006), Acaste in Der Menschenfeind (Volkstheater Rostock; premiere: April 2007), Secretary Wurm in Kabale und Liebe ( Volkstheater Rostock; premiere: September 2005), Astrow in Onkel Wanja (Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Zittau; 2007/08 season), Moritz Stiefel in Spring Awakening (Volkstheater Rostock), Jack “Tiger” Brown in Die Dreigroschenoper (Volkstheater Rostock; premiere : May 2006), Friedrich Murk in Drumming in the Night (Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Zittau; 2007/08 season), Seymour in Der kleine Horrorladen (Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Zittau; 2007/08 season) and Dr. Einstein in arsenic and lace cap (Volkstheater Rostock; premiere: December 2006).

At the beginning of the 2009/10 season he made his debut at the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken as Valentin in Goethe's Faust . In 2010 he played the title role of Felix Krull at the Saarbrücken State Theater in a stage version of the novel Confessions of the impostor Felix Krull set up by the author and dramaturge John von Düffel . Quester received very good reviews for his portrayal; he "convinced with a powerful stage presence". He also played in Saarbrücken a. a. Mitch in Endstation Sehnsucht (2011/12 season), Professor Arronax in 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas (2011/12 season), Henri Philipot in a stage version of the novel The Hour of the Comedians by Graham Greene (2012/13 season) and the husband in The petty bourgeois wedding (2013/14 season).

In 2017 he took on the role of Wilsen in the production of Der Pol at the Staatstheater Braunschweig (director: Christoph Diem ).

Quester occasionally took on a few film roles, including a. in short films , diploma films and university graduation films. He also had guest roles in the crime scene crime thriller of Saarländischer Rundfunk , for the first time in Heimatfront (2011). In January 2014 he was seen in the role of Bert Kaarweiler in the crime scene crime thriller Adam's Nightmare . He played the father of a disabled boy who was allegedly sexually molested by his swimming instructor.

Johannes Quester has lived as a freelance actor and speaker in Berlin since 2014 .
