John Baptist Minder

John Baptist Minder OSFS (born November 1, 1923 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † August 13, 2009 ) was Bishop of Keimoes-Upington .

Life

John Baptist Minder, whose ancestors emigrated from Germany to the United States in the 20th century, received the sacrament of ordination for the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales on June 3, 1950 .

Pope Paul VI called him on October 12, 1967 Bishop of Keimoes . The episcopal ordination took place on January 10th of the next year by the Archbishop of Cape Town Owen Cardinal McCann ; Co- consecrators were Joseph Patrick Fitzgerald OMI , Archbishop of Bloemfontein , and Edward Francis Joseph Schlotterback OSFS, Vicar Apostolic of Keetmanshoop .

On July 5, 2000, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He died on August 13, 2009 at the age of 85.
