John Crawford (* 13. September 1920 in Colfax , Washington as Cleve Richardson ; † 21st September 2010 in Newbury Park , California ) was an American actor.

Crawford, also Jack Crawford or Johnny Crawford , was a prominent supporting actor in US cinema and television. In his almost 50-year career, he starred in almost 100 films and in more than 100 different television series and films. His first role was as a native dancer in King Kong and the White Woman in 1933 . He was first seen in small supporting roles in US films before receiving major roles in films in Great Britain in the late 1950s and 1960s.

Since the mid-1940s Crawford was regularly in films, and since 1952 in television roles. So he was in numerous films and on television as a guest star in series such as FBI , Raumschiff Enterprise , Time Tunnel , Batman , Bonanza , Kobra Take Over or Knight Rider . Crawford played a recurring role as a Gestapo man in A Cage Full of Heroes and also larger roles in Smoking Guns , Make-Up and Pistols and The Denver Clan . His most famous role was that of sheriff Ep Bridges in the series The Waltons . He wrote the screenplay for Sam Peckinpah's film Abrechnung wird zum Ende (1970) together with Edmund Penney . In 1985 he also directed the short film Yak's Best Ride and wrote the music with Clyde Lucas .
