John Nicholas Cave Easter (born December 17, 1945 in Shawford , Hampshire , † January 11, 2016 ) was an English squash player .

Career

John Easter was active as a squash player from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s, and in January 1978 he reached 15th place, his highest ranking in the world rankings.

With the British national team , he was runner- up in 1971 and 1973, respectively . With the now English national team , he was European champion at the European Championships in the same year. He played a total of 31 times for the British and English national teams. From 1976 to 1982 he was four times in the main field of the individual world championships. His best performance was reaching the round of 16 in 1977 . There he was defeated by Gogi Alauddin . At the British Open he reached the quarterfinals in 1970 and 1971, which is his best result at the tournament.

He grew up in Oxford and attended Christ Church College there from 1966 to 1968 . During this time he also played cricket for the college team. He completed his studies in philosophy , political science and economics with an honors degree . He later worked in the financial sector.

John Easter, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2006 , died on January 11, 2016. He was married and had two sons and a daughter. The two sons, Mark and Nick Easter , are professional rugby players.
