John Martin Darko

John Martin Darko (born May 30, 1945 in Aboadze , † January 12, 2013 in Breman Asikuma ) was Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi .

Life

John Martin Darko was ordained a priest on July 25, 1976 by Peter Turkson , Archbishop of Cape Coast , after his training at the Elmina and Cape Coast seminaries . He completed a doctorate in philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome . He was vice rector and dean of studies at St. Paul's seminary in Sowutuorn in Accra . He was the episcopal delegate and head of the strategic finance commission of the Episcopal Conference of Ghana. He was vicar general in the diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi on June 27, 1998. He received his episcopal ordination from the Archbishop of Cape Coast, Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, on October 10th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Dominic Kodwo Andoh , Archbishop of Accra , and Gregory Ebolawola Kpiebaya , Archbishop of Tamale .

His resignation for health reasons was on December 14, 2011 by Pope Benedict XVI. granted. Mathias Kobena Nketsiah was used as administrator.
