John P. Austin

John P. Austin (born October 28, 1906 in Anderson , Indiana , † May 10, 1997 in Riverside , California ) was an American production designer .

Life

Austin made his film debut in 1947 with the film noir A Double Life by George Cukor . He began a three-decade long career in the film staff , in which he participated in over 100 films. He has worked with such well-known directors as Fritz Lang , Orson Welles , Alfred Hitchcock and Steven Spielberg . The films he worked with include, among others, In the Sign of Evil , Topaz , James Bond 007 - Diamond Fever and Paper Moon .

1967 he worked for Ronald Neames Kriminalkomödie The girl from the cherry bar with Alexander Golitzen , George C. Webb and John McCarthy Jr. for the Oscar in the category Best Production Design nominated, but the award went this year to the science fiction -Film The fantastic journey .
